NBC’s Ann Curry is so busy being a reporter, she doesn’t have time to be praised for being a mom. The American Cancer Society hosted the 14th annual Mother of the Year Luncheon at the Plaza, where Curry was honored the other day. But she was with George Clooney at a refugee camp in Darfur. “She missed the luncheon because her flight was delayed,” said our source. “Today” show co-host Meredith Viera accepted her award and gave a speech that turned on Kathie Lee Gifford’s waterworks. “She was running around and asking other tables for napkins,” we’re told. Other guests included Marissa Marchetto, Maria Cuomo Cole, Barbara Corcoran, Hoda Kotb, Matt Lauer, Natalie Morales, Al Roker, Diana Taylor, and Sloan- Kettering’s leading breast cancer surgeon, Dr. Alexandra Heerdt.
