Q&A

"Are we shooting ourselves by changing Realtors? Our house has been on the market for seven months now and I’d say our Realtor is just ok. I just don’t think she’s being aggressive enough. When I brought this to her attention her response was she doesn’t like to be a pushy Realtor. Other houses around us are selling, but not ours. Should we take it off the market for a while or just change our Realtor?"

If you really need to sell your house, don’t take it off the market, and if you don’t like your Realtor, get a new one. But changing your Realtor isn’t going to get your house sold if your house is overpriced. So before you assign your listing to a new Realtor, invite three competitive agents in and ask them the simple question, “At what price would I have to list my house to get it sold within the next thirty days?” You might not like the answers you’re given, but you’ll know what you really have to do to sell your house in today’s uncertain market. Ask each Realtor for a list of their sales over the last six months and pick the one who’s most successful and most enthusiastic.
